               Q: Who should take this course?

 A: This course is for doulas, home birth assistants, and midwife clinical assistants.

           Q:  How long the courses take to complete?

 A: The estimated time is 6-8 weeks, we advise 12 weeks to study and we recommend a clinical site for hands on if needed; but not required. You have access to the course for a year. You can print your transcript and certificates for your employer.

           Q: How much do birth assistants earn?

 A: Birth assistants can earn anywhere from 300-600 per birth. In addition, height, weight, and urine dipstick as well as intake of client history can assist midwives in clinical practice settingsthere is a shortage of skilled assistants in midwifery; job availalbity is promising as it allows Midwives to take on more clients.

 This is equal to nursing and midwifery training in prenatal assessments, labor and delivery management and assisting, complications of pregnancy and birth as well as post partum and stabilization of the newborn (apgar training included) approved for RN CEU’S

 This comprehensive training is offered online if you desire clinical training check with your closest midwifery or birth center practice.

  Infection control , hand washing and aseptic techniques, HIPAA, apgar assessment and preventing medical errors are prerequisites to this course The APGAR assessment can be taken at http://iicetraining.360training.com   (these must be completed on our site we will not accept other source unless completed for another licensure you can begin them once you pay for the course.

               Hearts and Hands Midwifery is the recommended text book

Online nutrition, alternative health, and wellness counseling, and breast feeding links will replace text books to keep the course affordable

These courses are what RN’s take for training and allows high tech easy access for working moms who want to train for this field. It’s self pace and can be done in 12 weeks. The course is $899.00

 Most birth assistants earn money in the homebirth or center setting working with midwives, but may also act as patient care technicians (and unregulated profession) or have other certifications such as medical assistant, nurse’s aide, or phlebotomist.

Average pay for a birth assistant is $300-600/ birth and some also offer lactation, birth education, and doula services as well.

The training from this course will ensure that midwives have adequate & available trained assistance and help the profession maintain its safety and efficacy to the families it serves.

Students take the online courses, are responsible for obtaining a clinical location & documenting clinical hours (40 hours of which 20 must be in attendance at birth or document 3 births and 10 visits pre or post natal care and counseling.) Clinical is optional not manadatory.
