PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN
Patient Care Technicianswork along side doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide direct patient care in a variety of healthcare environments. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in the healthcare delivery setting often having more patient contact than any other team member including doctors and nurses.
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) assists patients with many tasks that they can not do for themselves while they are in hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or long-term care facilities. PCT may assist patients with tasks such as eating, getting out of bed, taking a bath, and brushing their teeth and hair. The Patient Care Technician can also be called a hospital attendants, nurses’ assistants, certified nurse assistant, CNA clinical support associate, health care assistant and nurse’s aides among others depending on the nature of the facility.
Patient care techs have additional training beyond the skills of a CNA. The PCT is trained in skills such as phlebotomy, radiology,EKG, and CLIA waived testing and collection, and drug administration.
You can sit for Certified Nurses Aide and Phlebotomy Certification upon completion of the course and apply for both state licenses.
The entire course takes 16 weeks. If you have previous health care experience please call to inquire about transition from CNA or HHA into the Patient care tech program.
Program Cost is $ 1950.00 plus 50.00 registration fee (administration,books,supplies)
$ 899.00 IF YOU HAVE A PHLEBOTOMY CERTIFICATE ALREADY (must pass competency test and show proof of all certifications)
Students must pass Clinical skills, EKG, and Phlebotomy portion of the course to be awarded certificate of completion as a Patient Care Technician
